A new campaign being launched by charity Royal Blind is to be spearheaded by a Paralympian medallist, it has been announced.

Libby Clegg will officially launch the Light Up Lives initiative on November 27th in Edinburgh.

"As a former pupil of the Royal Blind School, I know that the funds raised from this campaign will have a real impact on the lives of those who are blind and visually impaired," she remarked.

She added that attending the school was one of the inspirations that led her to win a medal at the 2008 Games, while expressing her pride at leading a campaign that will help others lead their life "the way they want to".

The charity stated that the tone of the campaign is designed to be practical, positive and empowering.

Improving employment opportunities for blind and partially-sighted people is one of the objectives of the Royal National Institute of Blind People.
