Redeem and Caledonian Clubhouse team up to boost economic inclusion

25th June 2010

People with mental health conditions who have been out of work for a prolonged period are being offered greater support thanks to a partnership between the Caledonian Clubhouse and Redeem, a Falkirk-based company.

The co-operative - which was formed in 2005 - is intended to boost the economic inclusion of workers and it has seen much success since its inception, the Falkirk Herald reports.

It now boasts a turnover of £16 million and employs over 100 people in six nations, one of whom is Chris Lock who was diagnosed with chronic depression after being made redundant.

He noted that he was able to secure a job after receiving support from the two organisations, saying: "Working is a complement to my health. I still have ongoing issues, but working definitely helps me."

Similarly, disabled employees, jobless people and single parents are being given assistance from Bellcom, a Glasgow call centre that - according to the Evening Times - intends to recruit more talent over the next year.
