Disabled employee finds work through Remploy
23rd June 2010

A disabled employee from Odsal in Bradford has found work at Asda in Shipley through Remploy, the 500th person the organisation has helped in the city.
Martin Garside - who has a learning disability - "absolutely [loves]" his job, which involves assisting customers, operating the checkouts and stacking shelves.
He received support from Remploy with writing effective CVs, practicing job interviews and building his confidence.
"Over the past few years, I have applied for many jobs but nobody would give me a chance," Mr Garside remarked, adding that the body - and Asda - gave him a chance to prove himself.
He continued, stating that securing a position has allowed him to gain others' respect and he has gone on to make a number of friends through his job.
Similarly, Remploy also benefited former teacher Gill Rothwell, who left her school following a nervous breakdown.
The service helped her take on a role as a customer services officer at Jobcentre Plus in Worcester.
