Corrie star thanks colleagues for mental health support
11th March 2010

Actress Beverley Callard, who plays Liz McDonald in Coronation Street, has thanked her colleagues for their support in her recovery from mental health problems.
Last year, soap fans were told that Bev's disappearance from the show was due to her jetting off to Spain to visit her son Andy, however, in reality the performer was being treated for depression at the Priory Clinic.
Following her stay, Callard decided to put her backing behind mental health charity Mind to raise awareness of psychological problems and showed gratitude to her co-stars for their ongoing help.
Chief executive officer of Mind Paul Farmer said the understanding shown by ITV bosses "had a huge part to play in the steps she took back to good health".
"We encourage anyone who may be suffering in silence to reach out," he added.
Callard has been on the show for 20 years, with her first appearance airing in 1989.
