Disabled employees of the future 'studying in the US'

Disabled students hoping to establish a career are increasingly looking to the US as a feasible option for both work and education, it has been claimed.

Writing for the Times, Charlotte Hunt-Grubbe noted that parents attending a North American university fair at King's College School in Wimbledon felt financing and services for disabled learners are better across the Atlantic.

She remarked: "Funding for disability access comes easily when there are bulging coffers to raid and money is something the top American institutions have in excess."

"I feel the education is the best," the father of a disabled child at the event said, suggesting that services for disabled individuals are another reason why it "comes out top".

Andrew Halls, headmaster at King's College, explained that the lack of employment opportunities in Britain could be another factor for why people are considering moving to the US.

However, chief executive of charity Radar Liz Sayce argued last year that the equality bill could change all this, adding that disabled graduates are likely to benefit from the legislation.ADNFCR-1716-ID-19598552-ADNFCR
