Channel 4 has been selected as the UK broadcaster for the London 2012 Paralympic Games.

By delivering over 150 hours of coverage for the event, Channel 4 - a member of the Employers' Forum on Disability - is set to provide the largest amount of Paralympic Games footage in British television history.

Chairman of the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) Sebastian Coe said the additional focus will help to raise awareness of equality.

He commented that it is hoped that the increased coverage "will inspire disabled people of all ages to take up sport and be a catalyst for continued change in public attitudes towards disability".

The majority of the time dedicated to the sporting occasion is to be led by a peak-time show and supported by extensive mobile and online features.

As part of this, two ten-part documentaries following the stories of athletes competing in the Games will be aired in 2011 and 2012.ADNFCR-1716-ID-19550518-ADNFCR
