Mental Health Media Awards to be hosted by Mind
23rd November 2009

Charity Mind is to host the Mental Health Media Awards at Bafta in Piccadilly, London for the first time on Tuesday (November 24th).
Celebrating the ways in which psychological problems are authentically portrayed in the media, this year's ceremony is being presented by stand-up comedian Shappi Khorsandi.
Commenting on how she felt to be given the honour, Ms Khorsandi said: "I'm delighted to have the opportunity to celebrate the actors, writers, programme makers and journalists who by virtue of the quality of their work help to challenge prejudice and misconception."
Sponsored by Comic Relief and Shift, the event will see EastEnders and Hollyoaks go up against each other in the soaps category, while documentaries by Terry Pratchett, Fiona Phillips and Alastair Campbell are also battling it out for a top prize.
Actor Mat Fraser recently commended the Disability Discrimination Act for allowing disabled actors a wider platform for showing their talents on the big screen.
