Staff wellbeing 'affected by workplace pressure'
23rd November 2009
The health and wellbeing of employees in the current economic climate is beginning to suffer because of increasing workloads, it has been claimed.
Founder and chief executive of Best Companies Ltd Jonathan Austin said that it is important that employers recognise how to keep their personnel happy during tough times.
He remarked: "We have found in the data this year that the levels of wellbeing have really fallen through the floor because people are having to work a lot harder."
According to Mr Austin, many companies underestimate the positive effect that social events, such as a Christmas party, can have on the mindset of workers.
Even if firms need to cut their costs slightly to run their festive celebrations this year, it will still help to lift the mood and create a better team spirit, he added.
Recent research published by the organisation advised bosses to take the time to thank employees in person for their hard work carried out during the year as a way of boosting morale.
