BT director receives HR award
1st July 2009

Director of people and policy at BT Caroline Waters has been given an accolade for her skills in human resources (HR) management.
Winner of the HR director of the year prize at the 2009 HR excellence awards, Ms Waters has adopted innovative new approaches to flexible employment and has driven for diversity and equality in the workplace, HR magazine reports.
She said: "Working smarter and more flexibly is essential during difficult times. It makes business sense to keep skilled and experienced employees and avoid the costs [of] recruitment and retraining later."
BT - a gold member of Employers' Forum on Disability - was previously recognised for its work practices in relation to older people when it won an international innovative employer award by not-for-profit membership institution AARP in 2008.
The organisation recently revealed in a study that over one-third of those surveyed are working overtime during the current economic climate, with the average person putting in an extra seven hours a week.
