Paul Day appointed Director of CEO's Office at EFD

22nd September 2009

Employers' Forum on Disability (EFD) has appointed Paul Day, formerly Deputy General Secretary of the Association of Teachers and Lecturers (ATL), as its first Director of the CEO’s Office.

This role is the first of its kind at EFD, and will support EFD’s CEO in enabling the organisation to fulfil its potential and achieve its mission. EFD aims to enable companies to become disability confident by making it easier to recruit and retain disabled employees and serve disabled customers.

EFD’s Chief Executive Susan Scott-Parker said: “We are delighted to welcome Paul Day to EFD. I am confident his combined expertise will help maximise our internal capabilities so we are better placed to help employers become disability confident.

“In such challenging economic times, it is more important than ever that we deliver the best possible value for our members, and Paul’s work in particular will be crucial in helping us achieve this.”

Before joining ATL, Paul spent 16 years at Abbey National where he held a number of posts, including debt management, systems development, project management and employee relations.

Paul has previously been elected the National President of ANSA, the trade union in Abbey National, and was a Director of the £2bn Abbey National Group Pension Scheme.  He was been a member of Milton Keynes local authority and part of the first cabinet when new democratic structures were introduced.

He has also chaired his parish council and served on many other community organisations.  Paul lives in Newport Pagnell, Milton Keynes and his interests include jive dancing, his family and supporting MK Dons football team.
