BTAT Accessibility expert honoured
29th April 2009

ICT accessibility expert, Graeme Whippy from Lloyds Banking Group achieved major success at the ninth Financial Services Technology awards ceremony in London.
This annual event attracts IT decision-makers from all sectors of the financial services industry. This year's awards emphasised the importance of IT as a key driver in business.
Graeme was awarded 'Outstanding contribution to the industry by an individual' for his tireless promotion of the need for accessible ICT.
Graeme created an Accessibility Centre of Excellence at Lloyds TSB to improve the bank's accessibility performance by setting clear standards and providing dedicated support. He defined the business case for accessibility to secure senior buy-in and succeeded in moving accessible technology to the top of Lloyds TSB's IT agenda.
Prompted by his success at the bank, Graeme agreed to share his experience with the wider business community by becoming a significant player in Employers' Forum on Disability's 'Business Taskforce on Accessible Technology' (BTAT).
Susan Scott-Parker, CEO said "We were delighted to endorse Graeme's nomination. His personal drive and commitment to promoting the need for accessible ICT systems that liberate the talent and productivity of disabled people is a genuine inspiration to all who work with him. This award indicates that the IT industry is starting to consider accessibility alongside mainstream issues like security and this is very encouraging for disabled people".
