ICT accessibility business case – time to take part
22nd October 2008
EFD’s ‘Business Taskforce on Accessible Technology’ (BTAT) and other members of the wider ICT accessibility taskforce have started work on the business case for accessibility.
Taskforce members including: leading accessibility experts AbilityNet, The British Computer Society and disability charity RADAR, are crucially developing this business case in association with the UK business community.
BTAT members recently took part in an exercise to identify the top reasons for persuading a CEO to consider the business case for accessibility, alongside other key business drivers like security and environment.
All EFD members are encouraged to contribute to the business case in one of the following ways. Either by completing a short survey designed to gain a national insight into awareness and practice around ICT accessibility in the UK. The survey contains 14 questions, will take 5 minutes to complete and can be accessed by clicking onto the following link:

We are also gathering case studies that show the business benefits of adopting accessible ICT. Case studies could be based on the following themes:
1. Bottom line - Cutting supply costs for goods & services
2. Reputation and brand – Increasing brand value, complying with UK law
3. Employer of choice – Obtaining and / or retaining best talent
4. Culture change - How support from your ‘top-team’ has affected the adoption of accessibility across your organisation
