EFD responds to appointment of James Purnell as work and pensions secretary
24th January 2008
Responding to the appointment of James Purnell as work and pensions secretary, Employers' Forum on Disability chief executive Susan Scott-Parker says: "I would like to welcome James Purnell in his new role as work and pensions secretary.
"We have previously enjoyed a good relationship with the Department of Work and Pensions, with both ministers and officials.
"It's our belief that the government can only achieve its 80 per cent employment target by targeting employers to increase the employment rate among disabled people.
"We hope that Mr Purnell will continue to develop a dialogue with employers and we look forward to developing a good working relationship his office in the months to come."
