EFD supports new report on mental health in the workplace
18th May 2006
Employers' Forum on Disability (EFD) is among the high-profile supporters of a new report on mental health in the workplace.
The Shaw Trust is set to unveil the research findings at an event entitled ‘Mental Health - the Last Workplace Taboo' on June 6th at 6pm.
The event will be hosted by EFD gold member Merrill Lynch at their offices in the City of London.
EFD chief executive Susan Scott-Parker says: "Effective management of mental health in the workplace is good for business.
"Up to thirty per cent of a workforce will experience mental health problems in a year.
"Not only that, mental health problems account for the loss of over 91 million working days each year, costing British business four billion pounds a year.
"Failure to manage mental health problems effectively can also have high costs in terms of productivity, team morale and interpersonal relationships, staff turnover and individual performance.
"Here at Employers' Forum on Disability, we appreciate that providing a supportive work environment will benefit both EFD as a business, and its employees."
There are a limited number of invites to this event for EFD members. To apply for a place click this link - http://www.shaw-trust.org.uk/invite/.
The event is also supported by BT, BUPA, Business in the Community, GlaxoSmithKline, HSBC and Unum.
