BT Try Before You Buy centres

Having access to a telephone is a small thing that can make a big difference in helping people live active lives.  Not everyone has the same requirements and for disabled people it is important that they choose the right model with features to suit their needs.

BT has created a network of Try Before You Buy (TBYB) centres with the express purpose of enabling people to assess inclusive phones prior to purchase. At these centres they can use and handle telephones and related accessories and get expert advice so they can find the right product for them.

BT is now working with over 200 independent organisations around the country, providing the latest easy to use phones, designed to meet the different needs of older and disabled people. The centres are located within demonstration or resource centres in, for instance, disabled living centres or impairment specific organisations.  Staff at these centres have expertise in specific disability areas and provide advice on the products and features available, all in a friendly, non sales environment.

Wales Council for Deaf People which has a long standing relationship with BT, recently set up a TBYB centre in Pontypridd.  Meryl Roberts says, "We are very happy to be working in such a valuable partnership with BT.  Being kept up to date with new innovations means we are better able to advise our clients so that they can lead more independent lives."
