Strictly goes for new Wheelchair format
28th July 2009

BBC3 is to mix the glitz of Strictly Come Dancing with wheelchairs in its latest disabled talent format.
Produced by Fever Media, the 6 x 60-minute Dancing on Wheels (working title) will pair wheelchair users with non-disabled celebrities in a contest to see who will represent the UK at October's European Championships in Israel.
M People singer Heather Small, Gladiators presenter Caroline Flack and former EastEnders actress Michelle Gayle have been lined up to compete for a place in the event, along with Olympic swimmer Mark Foster, Hollyoaks actor Kevin Sacre and rugby player Martin Offiah.
Strictly Come Dancing choreographer Brian Fortuna will lead a team of professional dance trainers, and the show will follow the Strictly format - with a knockout competition culminating in a final dance-off between the top two pairs of competitors.
