Huge blog response to BBC advice on helping visually impaired viewers

23rd February 2009

The BBC's Head of Newsroom Peter Horrocks has provoked a flurry of debate after asking all his newsreaders to ensure that they read out information like phone numbers on the screen to make it easier for visually impaired viewers.

His internal email was leaked to the papers and he responded with a blog explaining his decision. There has been much praise from some viewers, with others calling it political correctness gone mad.
