Half day masterclass: Mental Health
23rd June 2011, 10:00am - 1:00pm, London
Chaired by Rachel E. Perkins, OBE, Mind Champion of the Year 2010
Mental health difficulties are common and can affect anyone of any age, gender, ethnicity or social group. Three in ten employees will experience mental health difficulties during the course of a year. However, there is often a lack of understanding around mental ill health and how it relates to the workplace. This can make it hard for line managers to feel confident when dealing with this at work.
At this masterclass Mind Champion of the Year and author of "Realising ambitions: Better employment support for people with a mental health condition" (an independent report to Department for Work and Pensions) Rachel Perkins will lead an interactive workshop exploring the following questions:
- How do you manage stress in a high pressured work environment?
- What support can you provide for staff with fluctuating mental health conditions, and how do you know when to offer it?
- How does mental health fit into a sickness absence policy?
- What are the rules around staff confidentiality; when is it right to disclose?
- How can you provide return to work support to employees who have been on long term absence due to a mental ill health condition?
