Interactive phone-in: Public Sector focus
5th April 2011, 2:00pm - 3:00pm
The Government Equalities Office has confirmed that the new public sector Equality Duty will be brought into force on schedule on 6 April 2011. At present the government's plans are relatively 'light touch' compared to their predecessor's, but what does that mean for you and your organisation?
- What are you required to do differently under the new Public Sector Duty?
- How will you ensure that you continue to meet your obligations on disability within an integrated duty?
- What is the government hoping to achieve from the new Duty?
- How can you become a more transparent organisation and use this to drive performance?
- What is the most effective way of involving and consulting disabled people?
- How can you avoid disability discrimination claims and improve your organisation's performance by well conducted disability impact assessments?
These are some examples of the type of questions we will be exploring during this phone-in, but on the day the direction of travel will be set by you.
Call, email or text us with your questions, views and experiences and our disability experts will facilitate a lively, interesting and at times controversial debate.
Why attend?
This is your opportunity to ask the experts the questions which are most relevant to you and your organisation.
Participants are also encouraged to share their experiences, so please do let us know how the new Public Sector Duty will affect you.
Easy to-follow instructions on how to join in and take part will be sent to you prior to the event.
EFD Associate and Freeney Williams Director, Rick Williams, EFD Acting Director of Policy & Communications, Nick Bason and Senior Disability Consultant, Brendan Roach will be your hosts.
Participants can also dial-in anonymously and email, phone-in or text questions prior to the event.
Alternative arrangements can be made for delegates with specific requirements. Please contact a member of the Training and Events team on 0207 403 3020 or events@efd.org.uk for further information.
Who should attend?
Human Resources managers, equality and diversity specialists, and line managers from all sections of the public sector.
