Workshop: Championing disability - creating change in your organisation

3rd October 2008, 10.00pm - 4.00pm, central London Past event

How do you challenge assumptions and change behaviour on disability?

How do you ensure that disability is at the heart of your organisation, and representative of 10 million disabled people in the UK?

How do you get senior management and colleagues' buy-in on disability so that it becomes a business issue and priority?

How will you know if you are winning?

When working to promote change on disability in your organisation, you are often required to engage senior members of staff, motivate your colleagues and influence the attitudes and behaviour of every member of staff.  This challenging process can take time to see real change across the organisation.

This workshop will help you to engage with your colleagues and organisation in becoming more Disability Confident.

It will explore the barriers often faced by disability champions and develop strategies, through group discussion and suggestions from experts, to overcome them.

Championing disability will help you to identify and pull together the right information as well as provide some of the practical tools you need to promote change.

It will give you time to consolidate what you already know, and prioritise your most effective next steps.  It will also help you to ensure that disability is at the heart of your wider diversity agenda.

This workshop will be led by EFD Associates Rick Williams, Director, Freeney Williams and Phil Friend, Director, Minty and Friend.  There will also be input from EFD members.
