Telephone Tutorial: Reasonable adjustments for people with Multiple Sclerosis (MS)

MS is a progressive, fluctuating illness. Around 70% - 80% of people with MS become unemployed within 10 - 15 years. Did you know that with a with a few simple accommodations, you can facilitate people with MS staying in work?
It is estimated that there are around 85,000 people with MS in the UK. Most people are diagnosed between the ages of 20 - 40. 90% of people with MS are in some form of paid work or education.
The aim of the Telephone Tutorial is to provide you with practical information on MS.
The tutorial will use frequently asked questions to the EFD Disability Directions team about what reasonable adjustments should be made in recruiting and retaining individuals who have or acquire MS during their working lives.
This Telephone Tutorial would also be of use to individuals who require information on other progressive and fluctuating conditions.
The session will be led by Bela Gor, Head of legal policy and information, EFD and joined by Joanna Sweetland, Senior occupational therapist, Institute of Neurology. Joanna is a neurology specialist and has worked in the vocational rehabilitation for people with MS over the past three years.
