Workshop: Valued in Public - employing people with learning disabilities

7th May 2008, 9:30am - 4:30pm, Leicester Past event

Are you a public sector employer who wants to employ more people with a learning disability? Do you have a recruiting manager who wants to employ someone with a learning disability, supported by an HR manager and job broker?

Why attend?

This event enables you to:

  • Discuss, with other employers, the barriers and challenges faced by organisations when trying to attract, appoint and recruit people with a learning disability
  • Learn from employers who have successfully appointed somebody with a learning disability and individuals who are in employment
  • Return to work with some real proposals for change and devise actions for your HR manager, line manager and job broker.

Who should attend?

This is a public sector only event and in order to attend the event you must bring with you three representatives from your organisation. You must bring:

  • An HR manager
  • A recruiting line manager
  • A job broker (we can help supply one if you do not already use one).

This event is free to EFD members. Please note that this is a public sector only event.

"I found Valued in Public to be a most enjoyable event which encouraged open discussion and sharing of information from a range of public sector employers. It is good to know that other organisations share the same difficulties, experiences and frustrations. I came away full of enthusiasm and with some excellent ideas to take forward on how to employ people with learning disabilities."

Margaret Dolan, senior personnel officer, Derbyshire County Council.
