Workshop: Creating accessible websites
15th May 2008, 10:00am - 4:00pm, London Past event
Due to popular demand we are re-running this Workshop, which originally took place in December 2007.
As computer technology develops at such a fast pace, it is vital that you have a good understanding of the key issues surrounding web accessibility.
This workshop gives you the most up-to-date information on current issues in web design and accessibility and covers Flash, PDFs, Ajax and Web 2.0 for web designers. Practical sessions throughout the day will give you the opportunity to directly apply your learning.
The workshop is being run in partnership with AbilityNet, a national charity specialising in helping disabled people make the most of IT. The web section within AbilityNet is a highly respected and award winning team and their clients include Microsoft, IBM and the BBC.
Speakers include Jon Gooday, accessibility development manager and Robin Christopherson, head of Accessibility Services at AbilityNet. Jon was on the expert panel for the drafting of BSI PAS 78 Guide to good practice in commissioning accessible websites and was the AbilityNet project manager for the BBC's accessibility help website, 'My Web My Way'. Robin understands first hand the needs of disabled people using the web, as he uses a screen reader himself. He is well known for his witty and insightful presentations.
