Conference: Supporting line managers on disability
19th March 2008, 10:00am - 4:00pm, London Past event
One in eight of the working population has a disability - that's 3.4million people.
How many of your line managers are disability confident?
The results of last year's Employers' Forum Disability Standard Benchmark Survey show that less than half of participating organisations have disability specific performance indicators for line managers. However, our experience shows that if you engage your line managers on disability it benefits the whole business. The ‘Supporting line managers on disability' conference will bring together HR and line managers to share best practice on treating disabled people fairly. Looking at the barriers to both good line management as well as good HR practices, it will focus on what's getting in the way and find practical solutions for both.
Delegates will explore approaches to issues such as managing sickness absence, appraisal processes and redeployment.

- Be more confident when managing disabled colleagues, including hidden impairments such as mental ill health and dyslexia.

Karen Macgregor, HR officer, Newlands Jobcentre Plus"I found the 'Handling stress in the workplace' conference a very worthwhile event for any business to attend. I particularly enjoyed the selection of presentations that were delivered throughout the day from various sources, ranging from a personal perspective, legal cases and case studies. The event also provided the opportunity to network with other organisations and share our experiences. A most enjoyable, fast paced event that encouraged debate and open discussion throughout.
