Telephone Tutorial: Making reasonable adjustments in the workplace
25th March 2008, 3:30pm - 4:30pm, Past event
Access valuable training from the convenience of your desk and minimise disruption to your working day by taking part in an EFD telephone tutorial.
We will make sure that you have all the correct materials beforehand; all you need is access to a telephone. You will be given the opportunity to ask questions prior to and during the presentation. The presentation lasts for approximately 50 minutes followed by 10 minutes for questions and discussion. Alternative arrangements can be made for delegates with specific requirements.
EFD's 2007 Disability Standard Benchmark Survey found that over 90% of participating organisations may be putting themselves at legal risk because they do not have an effective reasonable adjustments policy.
This tutorial will be led by EFD associate Simon Minty, director of disability consultancy Minty & Friend. It will explore ways to ensure you have the processes in place to deliver reasonable adjustments for disabled employees.
Why attend?
It will cover your legal obligations as an employer under the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA), understand what is 'reasonable' as an adjustment for an employee and where you can get help and support from external organisations.
Who should attend?
Line managers, HR professionals, diversity and disability practitionersTestimonial
Rebecca Auty, reasonable adjustment manager, Highways Agency"The telephone tutorial was a great idea. I think it worked well and it was particularly useful being able to hear questions from other members. It makes you realise that there are a lot of people asking the same thing as you and maybe your questions aren't so silly after all! "
