Workshop: Absence management – effective solutions using IT and alternative technology

3rd May 2007, 00:00am - 00:01am, Central London Past event

Ensuring a best practice approach to your workstation assessment process will reduce the risk of your staff suffering pain and discomfort at work and reduce sickness absence.

Many employees don't consider themselves to be 'disabled' but unless workstation assessments are undertaken correctly then minor discomforts can lead to absence from work and the affected employee may acquire a disability.

This workshop used case studies, discussion and demonstrations to identify the problems our staff may face when using a workstation or laptop and found the best solutions by using alternative technology.

The event was run in partnership with AbilityNet's Senior Consultant, Bill Fine. Bill has run a number of successful courses with EFD, all of which focus on addressing these issues at a practical level in your own workplace and across departments.

AbilityNet is a national charity that makes it easier for disabled adults to use computers and the internet by adapting and adjusting their technology.

Why attend?

This event enables you to:

  • Understand and respond to relevant regulations, including the Display Screen Equipment (DSE) Regulations 2002.
  • Identify different problems in particular cases and find appropriate practical IT solutions.
  • Consider different solutions to problems identified at the workstation and reduce sickness absence.
  • Identify the workstation needs of employees by addressing: hand and arm pain, back and shoulder pain, migraines and headaches, tired and dry eyes, and minor literacy difficulties.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments to address your processes for workstation assessments.
  • Reduce costs in absence management throughout your whole organisation.
