Conference: Recruiting & retaining people with dyslexia

19th October 2006, 00:00am - 00:01am, Past event

Dyslexia is a combination of abilities and difficulties that affect the learning process. Up to 2.9 million workers in the UK experience dyslexia in terms of one or more of the following: writing, spelling, numeracy, time-keeping or personal organisation.

It is very likely that some of your job applicants and employees will have dyslexia. Taking a good practice approach to employing and retaining people with dyslexia will allow you to feel confident that you are working to the spirit of the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA), and that you are taking full advantage of the skills and abilities of your staff.

Agenda highlights

Dyslexia - dispelling the myths

Expert input from the Adult Dyslexia and Skills Development Centre on the way in which an employee may experience dyslexia.

Dyslexia and the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA)

Input from an employment law specialist on your rights and responsibilities as an employer under the DDA.

An example of a recruitment process designed to be barrier free for people with dyslexia from a Forum member company.

IT solutions
