Line management
Your line managers have a responsibility to make sure disabled staff are treated fairly and have the same opportunities as theirnon-disabled colleagues.
This means:
- Making recruitment processes barrier free for disabled applicants.
- Ensuring reasonable adjustments are in place for all candidates when interviewing.
- Ensuring all induction processes are accessible.
- Taking a proactive role in the training and development of staff.
- Ensuring all training is accessible for disabled people.
- Holding regular review meetings with disabled and non-disabled team members about their performance.
- Recognising when someone might have or be developing a disability.
- Making sure that disabled team members are not penalised for taking disability related time off.
EFD has produced a series of line manager guides, available from our bookshop, which enable line managers to ensure they treat disabled colleagues fairly.
