Line management

Your line managers have a responsibility to make sure disabled staff are treated fairly and have the same opportunities as theirnon-disabled colleagues.

This means:

  • Making recruitment processes barrier free for disabled applicants.
  • Ensuring reasonable adjustments are in place for all candidates when interviewing.
  • Ensuring all induction processes are accessible.
  • Taking a proactive role in the training and development of staff.
  • Ensuring all training is accessible for disabled people.
  • Holding regular review meetings with disabled and non-disabled team members about their performance.
  • Recognising when someone might have or be developing a disability.
  • Making sure that disabled team members are not penalised for taking disability related time off.
