Disability Directions - getting advice
Who are we?
Disability Directions is a free information and advice service exclusively for Employers' Forum on Disability (EFD) members. The team give confidential advice on disability as a business issue, covering everything from reasonable adjustments to feedback on policies.
How does Disability Directions work?
- A prompt and professional service giving confidential, tailored advice.
- The team provide a number of fact sheets on a variety of disability related topics.
- Open Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm.
- Up to two hours' free review of projects like disability-related policies, job adverts and customer information.
- Quality advice on best practice.
- Advice by phone, email, textphone, post or online.
- Exclusive examples follow below for EFD members of how the service works:
- Advice on why pre-employment questionnaires are legally risky and bad practice
- Advice on how to provide the right customer care to a person of short stature
- Advice on how to provide wheelchair access for disabled customers, and insurance for a colleague with bi-polar disorder
- Advice on how long disabled customers can park for free at a supermarket, and 'snow leave' for disabled employees.
