Disability consultant
Location: London
Salary: £23 - 25k depending on experience
We are looking for a dedicated Disability Consultant to join our Member Services team and work with our members, actively promoting best practice around disability.
The Disability Consultant will provide support to the Member Services Team, managing the company's client base and ensuring their members get as much as possible out of their membership. The Disability Consultant will also help to promote the company's vision of a world in which business and the public sector promote the economic and social inclusion of disabled people. Disability Consultant Duties:
- Provide advice, support and consultancy to the Member Services Teams and promote best practice around disability
- Client relationship management with a dedicated client base
- Carry out Disability Standard evaluations
- Advise members on disability-related issues on a regular basis
- Maintain and develop good relationships with colleagues within our member organisations
- Travel to visit members and attend events
- Support the team's targets and work collaboratively to help them to be achieved
Disability Consultant Person Specification:
Essential experience:
- Explaining complicated ideas or information to non-experts
- Working in a fast-paced environment
Desirable experience:
- Working with disability and wider equality/diversity issues
- Extracting relevant information from documents for reports, articles or essays
- Working with clients/members/individuals in a fast-moving, results-led environment
- Giving advice on legal, HR, diversity or other issues
- Project management
Essential skills:
- Ability to understand and explain complex information both verbally and in writing
- Ability to analyse and research information
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate by email, phone or face to face

Training and events manager
Location: London
Salary: £30k
We are seeking a Training and Events Manager to design, plan, deliver and promote a high quality annual programme of training and events, from concept to completion. The Training and Events Manager will oversee the development and strategic direction of a tailored events service, enabling public and private sector clients to become more disability confident. Training and Events Manager Duties
- Lead and line manage the Training and Events team to achieve business targets
- Design and deliver the annual Training and Events programme
- Ensure the Training and Events programme supports the company's business plan and delivers on the agreed priorities for the organisation
- Design and deliver the tailored training to achieve the agreed outcomes for members and non-member organisations requesting such activity
- Consult with all appropriate internal and external stakeholders, including disabled people, on the format and content of events so that the programme is supported
- Meet or exceed budget for the company's training and events
- Promote the organisation's events so that awareness of the events as a member benefit is achieved, the optimum numbers of delegates attend, income targets are met and their mission is progressed
Training and Events Manager Person Specification:
Essential experience:
- Solid line management experience or equivalent
- Proven track record in designing and organising different types of events
- Experience meeting target revenue in either a fundraising or corporate capacity
- Working with a wide variety of people at different levels
- Developing and running events that engage the audience and mobilise them to create change
- Taking a long-term strategic view of events programmes
- Working in the not-for-profit sector or equivalent
Essential skills:
- Ability to translate complex information into easy-to-understand language
- Ability to demonstrate knowledge of the technical and logistical elements of events management, and identify and respond quickly to problems and challenges
- Ability to create effective working relationships with colleagues, EFD members and other external partners
- Excellent attention to detail and interpersonal, time management & negotiation skills
- An understanding of disability
- Ability to travel within the UK, including overnight travel where necessary
- An understanding of UK business including the different roles of public, private, government and voluntary sectors and of events marketing

Voluntary Interns
Employers' Forum on Disability (EFD) is the world's leading employers' organisation focused on disability as it affects business. Our mission is to enable companies to become disability confident by making it easier to recruit and retain disabled employees and to serve disabled customers.
We are looking for hard-working interns to join our team in central London and help us with our mission while developing your own skills and experience of life in a not-for-profit organisation that works closely with big business and the public sector. Although our members employ around 5 million people, our team is small and our office is a friendly place to work.
While we have opportunities in many areas of EFD's business,we do have a number of short projects within our Policy and communications department, so interns with excellent research and writing skills and experience of PR, media and social media are particular welcome.
An internship is an excellent way to get a head start in the transition from a student environment to a working environment. It should add value to your CV and give you an invaluable insight into how businesses operate in the real world.
The nature of this opportunity you do not need to have the business experience we might require if we were employing you. Candidates need to be:
- Willing to devote 3-5 days per week for the next 1 to 3 months;
- Capable of solving real problems;
- Enthusiastic to learn new ideas;
- IT literate;
- Versatile;
- Keen to make an impact in the real world.

- Interns are typically students, graduates or post-graduates, who work as an integral part of the EFD team.
- These voluntary positions usually last between 1-3 months and can be moulded to suit individual's skills, interests and available time.
- All these roles are primarily based in London and are unpaid, although reasonable expenses are covered.
