Business Taskforce on Accessible Technology
In January 2008 we launched the world's only Business Taskforce on Accessible Technology (BTAT). BTAT was created because the technology which should liberate talent and productivity makes it unnecessarily difficult to recruit and retain good employees, and to do business with millions of disabled and older customers.
Our members have been working to define best practice around accessibility so that internal systems and external services enable rather than exclude disabled people. We believe that it is a business imperative to make every employee more productive. All EFD members have access to EFD's Accessibility Maturity Model (AMM), a world first tool for measuring and improving the accessibility of ICT systems, products, services and processes.
As our members improve their own disability confidence with regards to ICT, they are demanding higher levels of accessibility in the products they procure from international suppliers. We are now working collaboratively and proactively with the IT industry to help them develop more inclusive working practices for their own disabled staff and helping them to maximise the potential to be market leaders in the delivery of accessible ICT.
